Spring is a beautiful time of the year to get married.
Its a time for new growth and the arrival of warmer
weather.
There are plenty of choices when it comes to choosing
your spring wedding flowers. The only thing to remember
is to check with your florist about availability. Some
of the spring flowers have a limited season, what may
be available at the beginning of spring might not be towards
the end.
A couple of examples of these are lily of the valley,
which is only available during April-early May, unless
you are prepared to pay a hefty price for it out of season.
Ranunculus is also a beautiful delicate spring flower
that looks very similar to a buttercup. This flower is
also readily available at the beginning of the spring
but not towards the end of the season.
A classic spring flower is the daffodil, everyone associates
it with spring, particularly around Easter. Daffodils
can make a beautiful inexpensive flower arrangement for
low table centrepieces. When a large amount of daffodils
are packed into square vases they can look exquisite.
Likewise hyacinths in pale blue, purple and pink work
equally well like this.
Anemones are also a stunning delicate spring flower.
Their beautiful petals and dark black centres resemble
the look of velvet. The colours of anemones range from
dark rich purple, deep burgundy red, vibrant red through
to delicate pink. They work particularly well for the
popular trend of vintage wedding flowers.
Peonies are a popular choice for romantic spring wedding
flowers. They work well when arranged on their own in
a hand tied posy. They can also be combined with roses,
freesias and veronica to produce a country style bridal
bouquet. They also give off a beautiful fragrance if thats
important to you.
If youre looking for a spring flower with a wide
arrange of colours, then tulips may be an option for you.
This classic spring flower comes in a wide variety of
vibrant colours from purple, yellow red and just about
every other colour. They also come in some delicate shades
and unusual varieties such as the parrot tulip. Tulips
look particularly effective when packed together in a
hand tied bouquet.
Popular colours for spring wedding flowers are pastel
shades of pink and lilac. Classic white is also very popular
as well as dark rich purple. Not forgetting of course
the obvious yellow if you choose to use the traditional
daffodils.
