Wedding cakes today are big business and just keep on
getting bigger and more ornamental year after year. One
popular trend is to have a wedding cake with a fountain
and lights. One thing that you can do on a budget is to
make a wedding cake stand with several tiers. Yes, some
people make their own wedding cakes instead of buying
them! Many people do so because of a limited budget, but
other people just love to bake and show off their skill.
Since it's a tiered wedding cake stand you will need
to have three cake tins of varying sizes - 12, 9 and 6
inches should do just fine. After you have baked your
cakes using your baking pans, you will need to very gently
remove the cakes and set the pans aside. Next, you'll
want to cut each cake into 2 layers. This will give you
6 cake halves.
Take your tins and trace three circles out of cardboard.
Set the bottom halves of the cake on their matching cardboard
pieces. Now you will need to get creative and decorate
your cake, spreading whatever mixture you have prepared
as a filling between each set of cake pieces. Place the
cakes gently in the refrigerator to set for about 30 minutes
or so. After they have set you can place the three cakes
on your stand. Don't forget to put protection between
each layer of the cake to ensure that they stay in place.
You don't want your cake to become unstable and fall over!
Now you can complete your decorations. You can also decorate
the stand itself, which should ideally match the colors
of the wedding. Once done, your tiered cake stand is ready
for the wedding!
